These are six, antique Italian silver hair pins, better known as "Spadinns" and date to c. 1870's Many Spadinn / hairpins would originally have formed a complex headdress, called raggiera, which was typical of the region around Lake Como in Lombardy.
Raggiera means rays and the headdresses resemble a sunburst / rays. These hair pins have an ornate design, the verso is plain. Each has a crowned head mark with the number 3 below, this signifies they are 800 / 1000 silver. The crowned head mark was used between 1872 - 1934. Three have a makers mark AP, one each of GR, TE? For unidentified letter and what looks like TA. Please view photo 9 for the actual marks. These are rare and there are few (or no) pieces of antique silver "spaddins" or'sperada' available for sale. The surviving pieces are a precious heritage preserved with close attention by families, folkloric groups and public institutions.
There is some bending, line indents and wear to the pins in places, as well as some minor marks, surface scratches, dinks to the edges etc, these are consistent with age and previous use, see photos 4 - 8 for examples, some of the line indents are highlighted in red.
