Extremely rare & fine antique rosewood Lap Desk & fittings - rare size C. An extremely rare and very fine antique rosewood inlaid Lap Desk, possibly a salesman sample/apprentice piece/Ladies Lap Desk possibly Palais Royal, the slope having an embossed leather panel with a further silvered electrotype panel under a domed glass cover over a mother with cherubs among landscape. The small dimensions of this rare item make it particularly charming (please note dimensions). Having a further lift up panel housing an ink bottle and sand shaker and compartments. The main slope housing its silver plated writing accessories including; Seal, letter opener, letter knife and dip pen. A silk opening pocket and storage compartment. This complete set rare on a number of levels - a great piece - images do not do justice to this wonderful piece. Good Antique Condition - requiring very light aesthetic attention by way of: internal silk pocket tatty and with some ripping and discolouration, one knife tip slightly bent, aged stable crack on lid, perhaps some feet replaced, all insignificant but mentioned for accuracy - extremely rare item - highly recommended.
