For his Royal Highnefs the Prince Regent with the Royal Coat of Arms. Extremely rare find stunning museum piece. May have been a carriage small chest.This piece hails from the estate of a downtown Toronto upscale retired decorator / designer whose pieces have been in storage for about 10 years. 19L x 12.5W x 9H (not including handles). Profusely decorated with brass or copper (hard to tell) studs / swan neck lid handle / brass side carry handles. Small ornate brass maned lion garnishes the front of the lift lid. All leather over perhaps, a soft wood normal age / usage leather wear buffs, scuffs, etc.
Wear is mostly on the lid edge sides where it would have been handled the most and corners. Working lock with original skeleton key. Evidence that the trunk originally had a name plate to the top set between the bales of the handle. All domed brass / copper studs appear to be intact except for maybe one missing at top corner? Untouched patina on leather and brass adornments any polishing of brass up to the end user.Oiling of leather is up to the end user. Some areas of leather has loosened (sort of rippled) which is normal over time.
Underside bottom is leather as well in great antique condition nice and smooth. Paper lined with printed crosses. Age related paper wear / soiling / staining etc.Splendid original large paper trade label affixed to the inside of the lid with illustrations of sample items and company information.
