Manufactured in the Staffordshire potteries and dating to the late 17th Century, circa 1690. The vessel, of straight sided form, is decorated with fine combed cream and brown slip below a buff coloured upper rim and twin looped handles. A collector's label remains within the cup detailing the number'26'. Cm or 5 1/8 inches. Cm or 7 1/4 inches.
In heavily restored condition, having once been fragmentary, nevertheless an extremely interesting and scarce example. Approximately half of the surface shows the original combed slipware, the remainder is overpainted restoration to match.
